About: Background: At is forty-eighth session, hosted by the Government of China in Beijing in 1992, the UN ESCAP declared the period 1993 to 2002 as the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons. From 1993 to 2002, annual Campaigns were held in various countries to raise public awareness of, and to mobilize support for, the Decade goals of full participation and equality of people with disabilities. The annual campaigns also provided a platform for the disabled persons as well as non disabled participants from the Asian & Pacific region to network and share experiences, problems and ideas. Much gains have been achieved in creating awareness about the situation of people with disabilities in the Asian and Pacific region. The Osaka Forum, held in Oct 2002, signaled the last of the ten Campaigns. The Regional NGO Network(RNN) which was established for the purpose of organizing the annual conferences, was dissolved after the Osaka Forum.

BNPS is an ideology based women organization established in 1986 by a group of committed women activist with the aim of establishing equal rights for women from family to state. The main focus of BNPS is empowerment of women, but it targets the society as a whole. It considers its role as a facilitator in social transformation in order to attain social justice, peace and development, free of all forms of discrimination and oppression by gender, class, ethnic identity and religion. BNPS directly works in six areas of Bangladesh: Chittagong including Sandwip island, Netrakona, Dhaka, Jessore and Mymensingh district.

Outline: The Itinerant Master program trains the world’s future leaders. It uses current approaches and models to illuminate a leader’s role—in theory and practice. A university in the United States of America will issue a Masters degree at the end of the program. Initially, the program will bring together six students and an appropriate number of professors from each of four cities: New York, Buenos Aires, Paris and Geneva—the group studying for one semester in each city, over a period of two years. Each city, each country will offer the students and teachers in the group its own unique world-view. Our organization was founded on March 28 1997. We conduct research on the conditions and methods necessary for the peaceful reunification of Korea, and present policies toward that goal from a feminist perspective.

About /History: Established in 1998, the Disarmament and Security Centre (DSC) is a specialist arm of the Peace Foundation coordinated by Kate Dewes and Rob Green from their Christchurch home. Kate had previously coordinated the Peace Foundation’s South Island office from her home since 1980. In 2002 the DSC became a separately incorporated branch of the Peace Foundation. The broad objective of the DSC is to provide a resource centre for alternative thinking on disarmament and security issues, both within Aotearoa/New Zealand and internationally. Currently the work focusses on promoting the World Court’s 1996 Advisory Opinion on nuclear weapons and its implications; promoting the United Nations Study on Disarmament and Non Proliferation Education; and implementing the Peace City recommendations adopted by the Christchurch City Council in May 2002.

One of the projects – Cinema City Mumbai: Cinema City is an attempt to create an audiovisual dateline of Asian cities with 100 year old cinema histories through multi-disciplinary art and research practices, such as cartography, film and video productions, visual art works, seminars and publications. The aim of this endeavour is to study the City, in particular, the city that is inextricably linked to its ‘cinemascape’. The project will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will culminate into an extensive exhibit on Bombay/Mumbai: The Cinema City. The second phase will be in collaboration with two other cinema cities in Asia-Tehran and Hong Kong.
