Published on FAO.org, 18 October 2007.

The FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department has launched a Web site to increase knowledge on the contribution of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) to fisheries management. This Web site has been developed under a project aimed at supporting the Plan of Implementation of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD). One section of the site presents guidelines prepared by FAO on the design, implementation and testing of MPAs as a fisheries management tool.
