The Association for Protection of the Rights of the Refugees from Abkhazia APRRA is a Non-Governmental, Non-profit organization. The Association was founded in October, 1998 in Tbilisi (Capital of the Republic of Georgia) as the International Association « Caucasus: Ethnic Relations, Human Rights, Geopolitics » (IACERHRG). On 13th November, 2004 at the 6th Annual Conference of IACERHRG a decision was made rename the Association and, also, to change its priorities.
The main aims and goals of APRRA are:
- 1. Permanent monitoring of the Rights of the Refugees from Abkhazeti (Abkhazia);
- 2. Organisation of the humanitarian actions for the Refugees from Abkhazia;
- 3. Participation in the events on the problems of Abkhazia, rezolution of the Abkhazian-Georgian conflict and restoration of territorial integrity of the Republic of Georgia;
- 4. Co-operation with the NGOs, Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and the legal Government of Abkhazia in exile;
- etc.
APRRA is managed by the Governing Board. The Association has more than 100 Individual Members, the Regional Working Group of Imereti-Samegrelo, the Working Group of Abkhazia in exile (based in Tbilisi) and the Tbilisi Working Group. APRRA has also Representatives in: the USA, the Netherlands and the Czeh Republic. The Office of APRRA is based in Tbilisi. (full text).
