About the Swiss Minarett-Initiative (on Homepage): The sky above Switzerland is wide enough. CAUX-Initiatives of Change is against the initiative that wants to ban the construction of minarets in Switzerland. In November, there will be a vote in Switzerland about an initiative that wants to ban the construction of minarets in Switzerland and therefore is against the religious freedom in Switzerland:
- CAUX-Initiatives of Change is against this initiative, has joined the christian-muslim committee in the canton of Lucerne against the intiative and has signed the “Call for Freedom and Equality”.
- The christian-muslim committee in the canton of Lucerne against the initiative is consisting of the three national Swiss churches, the muslim community of Lucerne and NGOs like Caritas Lucerne.
- The “Call for Freedom and Equality” was launched by the “Association for Minorities in Switzerland”, the “Swiss interreligious working group IRAS-COTIS”, the “Foundation against Racism and Antisemitism” and the “Zürcher Lehrhaus”. The call can also be signed by individuals.
