About: The Citizenship Foundation is an independent education and participation charity that exists to encourage and enable individuals to play an effective role in democratic society.
Our vision is of a just, inclusive and cohesive society in which individuals have the knowledge, skills, confidence and motivation to engage effectively in their communities.
Our work is grouped into three strands:
- Better Citizenship Education: Making citizenship education more active and accessible, in and out of schools.
- Effective Participation: Championing engagement in society through campaigning, volunteering and charitable giving.
- Stronger Communities: Promoting cohesive and inclusive communities through exploration and debate.
Central to our Strategic Plan is a commitment to ensuring that our resources and programmes can be accessed by young people experiencing, or at risk of, exclusion and in those communities that are most commonly excluded from participation and engagement, locally and nationally.
