Sustainable Development Agenda 21: Agenda 21 is the programme of action for sustainable development adopted at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), Rio de Janeiro, in 1992.

The Earth Summit+5 http://www.un.org/esa/earthsummit/index.html
was held in June 1997 to review and appraise the implementation Agenda 21. Information on the natural resource area is available.

The Millennium Report of the Secretary General of the United Nations was launched in March 2000 to establish a vision for the Millennium Summit held later that year in September. One of the key proposals of this report is a Sustainable Future in which natural resources are seen to play an essential role.

Another conference, the World Summit on Sustainable Development (Rio +10), is scheduled for September 2002. Further information on the Rio+10 Summit in relation to natural resources is available here. http://www.natural-resources.org/events/wssd/index.htm
