We respect varying religions and cultures, and we work in countries and communities where our mission can contribute to development. We work in the spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and we promote these rights around the world. With the SOS Children’s Village concept, our organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children. Recognition: The Government of India has appreciated the work of SOS Children’s Villages of India and has recommended it to other child-care organization in the country to follow this pattern. 

SOS Children’s Villages of India was awarded the National Award for Child Welfare – 2003-04 by Ministry of HRD, Government of India for remarkable work in the field of childcare.

The Delhi State Government has given the “State Award for the best work done in Child Welfare by an institution” to SOS Children’s Villages of India in 1997.

The Award for the Best Childcare organization for the year 1998 was awarded to SOS Children’s Village Cochin by Ministry of HRD, Government of India for its outstanding performance in Child Care.

Land Donations by State Governments: Several state governments have donated lands for SOS Children’s Villages:

SOS India conferred with PHD Chamber Award for Outstanding contribution to Social Welfare, 2009:

  • The PHD Chamber Annual awards for excellence 2009, have been announced and SOS Children’s Villages of India has been selected under the category of outstanding contribution to Social Welfare. The award would be presented on the 23rd Dec, 2009 by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, Hon’ble Finance Minister of India.
  • This award only reiterates the belief and faith that our Founder Father Dr. Hermann Gmeiner had when he started the SOS Movement 60 years ago in 1949.

Godfrey Philips Bravery Award for SOS Children’s Village Jaipur:

  • The SOS Children’s village, Jaipur was nominated and thereafter selected for the Godfrey Phillips Bravery awards in the category of the Social Acts of Courage for its yeomen service to the society by educating children.
  • The Award ceremony would be taking place at Jaipur on December 23, 2009 at the Jaigarh Hall, SMS Convention Centre from 10:30 am to 9:30pm.
  • The Chief Guest for the event is the Honourable Army Commander of the South Western Command, Lt. General C K S Sabu, AVSM, VSM, ADC, who would be presenting the Awards.
  • This ceremony is taking place for 3 states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
