About 2/2 … /Our Mission: By lobbying European Union institutions, the campaign is committed to ensuring that the EU adopts a definitive strategy to end FGM and provide protection to women and girls who flee their countries for fear of being mutilated.

Working with partner organisations, the campaign will also play a role in capacity development of the sector through training and fundraising support.

Our Guiding Principles:

  • The campaign is based on the principles of human rights based approaches (HRBA), which frame female genital mutilation as a violation of human rights, aim at empowering rights-holders (women who have undergone or are at risk of FGM) and seek an active and meaningful participation of those directly affected by the practice of FGM. The work of the campaign will be underlined by the principle of non-discrimination and prioritisation of groups at risk of FGM.

The 5 principles of human rights based approaches are:

  • 1.Express Link to human rights
  • 2.Empowerment
  • 3.Participation
  • 4.Non-discrimination/Equality
  • 5.Accountability
