Women in Peacebuilding Netwok WIPNET’s specific goal is to develop twenty women in the age range of 20-40 as competent peacebuilding trainers, researchers, mediators and advocates over a five-year period.
At a special consultation held in Accra, Ghana with support from the Catholic Relief Services West Africa Regional Office, seventeen women active in peacebuilding in West and East Africa launched a West African Network for Peacebuilding WANEP.

About: As part of the commitment of WANEP Togo to ensure a peaceful, free and fair parliamentary election in June 2007, a workshop was organised for the Youth Leaders of all the political parties in Togo from 26th to 29th February 2007.
Aware that past elections often resulted in violence with the consequence of thousands of Togolese either internally displaced, or rendered refugees while others are killed, the workshop examined critical themes around good governance, leadership and power, political reforms in Togo, conflict and the principles of non-violence as well as ethnicity in the context of organising elections.
The Youth Political Leaders discussed state institutions with the responsibility of ensuring elections are transparent, free and fair, examined the antecedents of electoral violence from the perspective of the underlying issues of the violence and made resolutions and commitments that bind them to cooperate and work towards a free and non-violent election in June.
There were forty-five participants representing eleven political parties and all the geographical regions of Togo. The workshop was officially opened by the Prime Minister through the Minister for Human Rights and Democracy Madam Celestine Akouavi Aidam.
