Mission 2/2: … What makes this Trust unique is our focus on the richness of Africa, not its poverty. We believe that Africa is on the move and that African people are the key to its prosperity.
However, having one of the largest populations of young people on earth places education at the heart of Africa’s future. Technology-enhanced learning and access to digital information have a vital role to play in making the most of what education has to offer Africa’s upcoming generations. Whilst technology and innovation are usually synonymous with expert groups and the upper echelons of society, it is our conviction that as technology becomes cheaper, more connected and more powerful, its potential to impact education becomes relevant even for the most remote and underserved regions of Africa. It is therefore vital that educators and practitioners across Africa are not alienated from learning innovation and technology, but rather that they are part of the process of innovation itself. This is why we seek to sponsor the conference participation of as many low-income practitioners, educators and researchers as possible. Their participation at Africa’s premiere eLearning event helps to ensure that practical challenges and solutions are given the voice these deserve. Furthermore, it enables them to disseminate valuable knowledge to communities throughout Africa.
