… Historique: Philolab est une association française loi 1901 dont l’objet statutaire  est de « favoriser le renouvellement et le développement de l’enseignement et de la pratique de la philosophie ». Philolab a été fondé à Issy-les-Moulineaux en avril 2006 par Jean-Pierre Bianchi, membre du comité d’organisation du colloque sur les Nouvelles Pratiques Philosophiques depuis 2003 et Claire de Chessé, professeur de philosophie … (qui sommes-nous 1/2).

• The Social Work Cafe (SWC) has a 14-year history of connecting students and professionals through discussion forums, global e-mail exchange, and no-cost advertising for any social service organization or school.
• The SWC has gathered 315+ members from 42 countries, and 41 States from the USA! The « Mentor Match » program has become a successful program for engaging new members in SWC activities, due to our diverse collection of  volunteer Mentors!
• My wishes for 2010 are that the Cafe will continue to grow  and welcome new individuals who can share with everyone their experiences, dreams, and cultures.

• 2: The aim of the association is to contribute to worldwide democratization. Democracy is understood to mean maximally equal rights and practical possibilities to participate both in making decisions, which affect one’s self, and in struggles over the correct way of organising common issues. Another part of democracy is that everybody has the right to participate in defining the public and political issues, upon which decisions are made democratically. Democracy is an ideal, and a process, but not a completed model; therefore, democratization may, in practice, touch any part of societal life.

Who are we: During the last few decades, Europe has received thousands of immigrants and refugees of African origin who practise female genital mutilation (FGM). Consequently, several NGOs, governments and health professionals of various nationalities were inspired to explore means of preventing FGM.
