  • It’s simple: the financial crisis and the recession have left a massive hole in the UK’s public finances. Jobs and public services are at risk in the UK while many other developed and developing countries face a similar struggle.
  • But there is another way. Thousands of Robin Hood supporters believe that banks, hedge funds and the rest of the financial sector should pay their fair share to clear up the mess they helped create. (Why we need Robin and links to topics).

In Defence of Youth Work

The In Defence of Youth Work campaign saw the light of day at Youth and Policy’s  History conference in March 2009. It was initiated through the circulation of an Open Letter, which you can read here on the site. To be honest the interest and support generated has exceeded our expectations. During the year over 500 people have attended meetings across the country and the recent national conference in Manchester attracted almost 150 supporters from across the spectrum of youth work … (full text about).

Our mission: Build Africa works exclusively in rural areas of Uganda and Kenya to help young people escape poverty through education and income generation.
What we do: In education we work within local development plans to:

  • Help build the capacity of schools, communities and local government staff to work together to improve data collection, planning, monitoring and evaluation at school level, resulting in a ‘school development plan’;
  • Provide training and mentoring of school management committees for better school governance;
