• 1. To support and empower those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault;
• 2. To develop a community where there is no acceptance of or tolerance for either.

The agency provides services to all who identify themselves as victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, sexual preference, religion, age or disabilities. Our services include 24 hour emergency hotline and shelter, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Response Teams, individual counseling (in both Spanish and English), support groups, youth programs for children and teens, support for significant others, transitional housing, case management, outreach program, legal advocacy, safety planning, information and referrals, and community education. Principles Guiding AHRC and ALRC Programmes:

• Victims-directed approach must be combined with structural reforms needed to prevent human rights abuse and to promote rights;
• Protest work will be combined with a community-based approach. In this, building of a support base in church and religious groups will be given priority;
• UN-directed approach must be combined with regional and country based human rights promotional activities;
• Human rights promotion must be combined with promotion of democracy and rule of law;
