UHAI-EASHRI is a grant-making initiative which aims to provide flexible and accessible resources to support civil society activism around issues of Sexuality, Health and Human Rights in the East African region (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi), with a particular focus on the rights of sexual minorities. In its grant-making and convening roles, UHAI aims to build a strong, diverse and organised movement for change, and to enhance the knowledge and expertise of donors around supporting sexual rights in East Africa. - To build an internationally recognised, competitive, peer review led mechanism to fund sexual minority initiatives and build capacity of sexual minority movements.
- Develop improved skills and motivation among members of the sexual minority movement and other sexual health & rights organizations.
- Give impetus to the growth of increased capacity building, civil society organisations, private sector etc.
- Realize a successful (cross-organizational) regional & international internship programme.
- Facilitate increased networking and inter-collaboration between countries.
