• The Alice Springs Women’s Shelter was established in 1975 by the local Women’s Electoral lobby. It was located in an old house in Bath Street, and was originally named the Alice Springs Women’s Refuge.
• In 1980 the Shelter lost its funding for various reasons and over the next 6 weeks the service continued to operate with volunteer workers until they could no longer continue. Once the service was closed and emptied, the building was bulldozed … (History 1/2).

The Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County (WSP) is committed to the concept of cultural competency for all of its constituents, whether they be staff, clients or community members. The agency engages in continuous quality improvement practices, examining quarterly client survey feedback. Based on data collected during the most recent fiscal year, over 98% of agency clients have indicated that the services they received were respectful and supportive of their belief systems, sexual orientation, race, age, cultural background and ability/disability status. The IEHA has been established in 1960, and unites economic historians from almost 40 countries in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. Today the seat of the Associaction is Utrecht. The aims of the IEHA are to maintain and develop personal contacts between scholars interested in economic history and to encourage all forms of research and publications relevant to the development and diffusion of economic history.
