  • Trainings in traditional embroidery will be offered to women artisans from the identified project villages. An initial training of 30 days would be followed by a refresher training of 30 days. The trainings would be focused on production of simple as well as exclusive products like handbag, Dori, cushion covers etc.

Training on Paper-mache:

  • TrainiTrainings would be provided on making exquisite paper mâché designer items to youth who have flair for crafts. Physically challenged youth would also be considered for this training. Such items have a good market amongst the middle class/affluent class. Once the youth are able to deliver excellent finished goods, efforts would be made for them to participate in exhibitions and interactions with potential buyers would also be made. This is vital for generating market awareness, exposure and demand for such items.

Training on making PoP items and ceramic potteries using white clay:

  • White clay is locally available in the Kolayat block and has varied uses ranging from making ceramic potteries to PoP home decor goods which are used in construction. This clay reaches far flung regions of the country where they are made into finished goods. By hiring experts, such ceramic potteries and PoP based items can be made here itself by local youth. The marketing avenues for the same can be explored in regions in and around Bikaner itself. Again, as in the case of Paper-mâché items, efforts would be made for them to participate in exhibitions and interactions with potential buyers would also be made for generating market awareness and demand.

Training on Tyre Puncture Repair:

  • The growth of automobiles-both in urban as well in rural belts, have generated huge businesses for the service industry which is more than 90% in the informal sector. In the absence of good road conditions in most parts of the countries and especially in the rural regions, tyres bear the brunt of the vehicle load and get deflated or punctured. The need for tyre puncture repair shops is all the greater in today’s context and once the youth get the required training, they would be able to set up their own enterprises with assistance from financial institutions. Apart from the residential training, the trainees would be getting hands-on training in similar local business establishments. Such establishments in commercial areas like bus stands, govt. offices, markets etc. stand a good chance of making decent profits.

Training for setting up Tea Shop:

  • The movement of individuals from one place to another is mind-boggling. This floating population and the increasing purchasing power of the communities has seen a phenomenal rise in the growth of tea shops and food joints. Apart from the residential training, the trainees would be getting hands-on training in similar local business establishments. Such establishments in commercial areas like bus stands, govt. offices, markets etc. stand a good chance of making decent profits.

Training for setting up Barber Shop:

  • This is an evergreen trade – come rain or shine. Apart from the residential training, the trainees would be getting hands-on training in similar local business establishments. Such establishments always stand a good chance of making decent profits.

Training in dealing with Junk:

  • The growing purchasing power across the various sections of the society is resulting in the creation of Junk materials like glass wares, cardboards, iron etc. This is disposed off at a throw away price. However, it fetches a reasonably good value in the industries wherein it is consumed. Sufficient training to understand the value of « Junk » and to segregate them would be provided. Hands-on training with a junk dealer would also be made available. This would result in an honest income for the youth, who otherwise have no livelihood options.

Basic Course in Computer Operation:

  • The need of computer literacy in today’s world need not be emphasised. There are many a children in the age group 15 and above from poor families in the rural areas who are either pursuing their school education or have recently completed their schooling. These children often desire to be computer literate, but absence of resources and lack of access to such facilities are proving to be a hindrance in the development of such children. As a result, they are isolated and often have an inferiority complex in them. Basic course in computer operation and communication would add to the personality of such children and would increase their self confidence and job options. Tie – ups with reputed and credible institutions would be done and the students upon completion of the course would be offered a certificate/diploma.
