Promoting Human Rights and Education in Bangladesh (PHREB) is a voluntary, non-profit and non-government organization designed to promote ‘Women’s Human Rights’, ‘Gender Equality’ and ‘Social Justice’ in Bangladesh. Placing the advancement of women’s human rights at the centre of all its efforts, PHREB focuses its activities on five strategic areas:
- Ending Violence and Discrimination against Girls and Women;
- Promoting Human Rights, Gender Equality and Social Justice;
- Reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS among women and girls;
- Promoting Adolescents’ Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights;
- Promoting Girls’ Human Rights to Education and Health.

About: Vision: PHREB envisions a society in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.
Mission Statement: In pursuit of this vision, PHREB’s Mission is to:
- Effectively carry out research and action that address and help preventing grave abuses of human rights to promote all human rights enshrined in the internationally recognized human rights standards.
- Educate young people about human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights so that they become valuable advocates for human rights, gender equality and social justice.
- Empower adolescent girls to speak out, seek and access their human rights by fostering their leaderships and focusing on the issues of Violence against Women, Sexual and Reproductive Rights, Gender and Human Rights and Social Justice.
- Create an expanding base of support by connecting, informing and mobilizing youth, adolescents and women and organizations committed to advancing gender equality and women’s human rights so that they may stand as one to defend the rights of all.
- Undertake projects and programmes to provide legal aid services to the victims of gender based violence to prevent grave abuses of human rights in Bangladesh.
- Establish legal aid and human rights protection Units in different localities of the country, including rural areas.
- Publish books, periodicals to build human rights and violence against women and children awareness among people regardless of age, class, citizenship status.
- Study on human rights abuses especially against women and children. It seeks to disclose human rights abuses accurately, quickly and persistently. It systematically and impartially researches the facts of individual cases and patterns of human rights abuses. These findings will be publicized, and members, supporters and staff mobilize public pressure on governments and others to stop the abuses.
- PHREB will carry out wide range of human rights educational activities and will encourage government, inter-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations, companies, individuals, and all organs of the society to support and respect human rights.
