The Peace and Development Network of the NGO Council PeaceNet,
NETWORKING (Homepage): The worth of PEACENET-Trust as a civil society peace building and conflict management network is in the numerical strength of her membership. Today, PEACENET-Kenya members consist of:
• Institutions (NGOs, CBOs, donor agencies, and religious organizations working in the areas of relief, peace building and conflict management, development, human rights and justice)
• Individuals ( peace icons, researchers, consultants, advisors and frontline practitioners)
• Associates
PEACENET-Trust members enjoy all their rights as provided for by the Trust Deed and the Operational Guidelines and elaborated in various policy guidelines adopted from time to time by the Members’ Consultative Forum.
Membership development is identified as key to enhancing a network. This involves identifying, recruiting and involving members to all perspectives of the network at their respective levels. The lobbying and advocacy subset of the programme is primarily responsible for mobilizing various forces of peace to ensure that appropriate legislation; policies and programs are developed at the national and local levels to promote a sustainable culture of peace in Kenya. The role of advocacy revolves around four principal fronts: Public education, public organisation, public campaigns and lobbying policy makers.
This programme is organised around two subsets. The first subset is peace research while the second encompasses lobbying and advocacy. See also:
