About (2/2): Historic « firsts, » « mosts, » and « onlys » are the hallmarks of Glen Ford’s long career.

The son of famed disc jockey Rudy “The Deuce” Rutherford, the first Black man to host a non-gospel television show in the Deep South – Columbus, Georgia, 1958 – Glen was reading newswire copy on-the-air at age eleven. Glen’s first full-time broadcast news job was at James Brown’s Augusta, Georgia radio station WRDW, in 1970 – where ‘The Godfather of Soul” shortened Glen’s surname to “Ford.”

About THI: Take Heart India is a youth focused community enabling organisation focusing on educational and environmental projects in India. Take Heart primarily supports a parent organisation called the MSS, the lifetime achievement of the legendary Baba Amte. The awareness of Take Heart has been growing quickly over the years. In 2003 Take Heart became entirely student run. 34 student committee members were established at universities across the UK. Take heart is no longer entirely student run but remains entirely youth focused.
