About: WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) is a South Asian research and training initiative, which facilitates the leadership of women in the areas of peace, security and international affairs. Initiated in 1999 by Meenakshi Gopinath who currently serves as the Honorary Director, WISCOMP positions its work at the confluence of peacebuilding, conflict transformation and security studies. The intersection of these with gender concerns provides the focus of its engagement and is the leitmotif that informs its programs.

The mission: The CDR hopes to serve as an initiative that links the issues of dialogue with justice and equity and through this integral link, begins to serve as a catalyst for both internal and external peace and reconciliation in South Asia. Several groups already exist to assist the goal of South Asian concord, but given both the enormity and complexity of the task a body with such a perspective, that of justice, peace and reconciliation, may also play a useful role.

Gruelling poverty, politicised manipulation of religions, gender disparities and caste-based oppressions coupled with excessive militarisation – that has today taken the form of potential nuclear anhilation – have combined to give an edge to the conflicts within the region, severely warping and wounding the daily life of South Asia’s nearly one and a half billion people. The National Centre for Rural Development NCRD is a registered Public Charitable Trust, founded in 1991 with the stated mission of Rural Development. About 2/2: NCRD started its activity in education in 1993 with the establishment of a school in Ambegaon taluka, Pune district which was a very backward area. In the absence of industry, development was minimal and schools were few and far.
