About /General Information: … KSCC was established in May 1996 as a branch of the Palestinian Ministry of Culture but functioned with programmatic independence; nonetheless, in 1997, it was decided to transform the status of the centre to a non-governmental institution (NGO) to allow it to achieve its mission and goals fully. As a result, KSCC was registered in the Ministry of Interior in May 1998 and obtained a tax-exempt status granted to non-profit organizations from the Palestinian Ministry of Finance; and in August 1998 KSCC signed an agreement with the Ministry of Culture, whereby the Sakakini’s building remains the property of the Ministry, while it is used rent-free by KSCC.

Radio Program by our Theatre: The All for Peace Radio Station, that broadcasts simultaneously from Jerusalem and Ramallah, having heard of our work for peace and dialogue, invited us to experiment and produce a short pilot of an hour’s broadcast from young people to young people.

For the young actors of the Rainbow – Arcobaleno Theatre it was a whole new challenge, because now they had to express themselves in words instead of the body language which characterizes their performances of dance – theatre.

One of our main accomplishments has been the creation of an intersection between the areas of violence and health by establishing bridges between the professionals in these sectors that do not usually communicate with each other. We have trained physicians, nurses, and health professionals working in emergency hospitals of Rio de Janeiro to give the initial care, such as immediately providing emergency contraception to female victims of sexual violence instead of referring them to maternal hospitals as they used to do. Today, Rio’s big emergency public hospitals have trained staff and posted signs made by Cepia and the Municipal Department of Health, indicating what should be done in such cases. Since 1996, Cepia has also been coordinating a course for medical students during which the students debate issues such as human rights, gender equality, and race discrimination.
