The Two Circles.net

Linked with Asghar Ali Engineer – India, with Madrasa education myth and reality, and with Islamic banking in India: Challenges and prospects.

Guiding statement: « I belong to two circles of equal size, but which are not concentric. One is India, and the other is the Muslim world (Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar): I am a Muslim and profoundly conscious of the fact that I have inherited Islam’s glorious tradition of the last fourteen hundred years. I am not prepared to lose even a small part of that legacy. The history and teachings of Islam, its arts and letters, its culture and civilization are part of my wealth and it is my duty to cherish and guard them. But, with all these feelings, I have another equally deep realization, born out of my life’s experience which is strengthened and not hindered by the Islamic spirit. I am equally proud of the fact that I am an Indian, an essential part of the indivisible unity of the Indian nationhood, a vital factor in its total makeup, without which this noble edifice will remain incomplete (Maulana Abul Kalam Azad). »  (about 1/2).

PACT radio – Pakistan

(also in the language of Pakistan)

Linked with Freshta Shikhany – Pakistan ex Afghanistan.

The aim of PACT programmes: The languages spoken on both sides of the Pak-Afghan border, the culture and traditions of the people, and the problems they are facing in their day-to-day lives, are all inter-related. People living on both sides of the border can help each other solve their problems. How can people’s standard of living improve? How can the conflicts which beset them, be solved in an amicable fashion? How can extremism and polarization of society – inimical to Islam – be replaced by Islamic moderation? … // … These are the answers which PACT programmes seek to address, in the words of ordinary members of society – the ones who have most to gain from solution of current problems, and most to lose from the perpetration of these problems.
