About: Notre Dame’s Kroc Institute is one of the world’s principal centers for the study of the causes of violent conflict and strategies for sustainable peace. Faculty conduct research and generate knowledge about war, genocide, terrorism, ethnic and religious conflict, and violation of human rights. The results of this research enrich scholarship and teaching while strengthening peacebuilding worldwide.

The Kroc Institute educates undergraduate and graduate students from around the world in the theory and the practice of strategic peacebuilding. A new Ph.D. program shapes the field by producing scholars and educators trained in peace research and practice. A global network of alumni works at all levels of society to build a more just and peaceful world.

The Kroc Institute’s mission is integral to Notre Dame, an international Catholic research university. The Church has a rich tradition of teaching on war, peace, justice, and human rights. The Kroc Institute fosters collaboration among religious and secular traditions, strengthening the capacity of all for building peace.
