The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace is a British based charity (charity no.1048990) created by the parents of 12 year old Tim Parry and supported by the parents of 3 year old Johnathan Ball. Both Tim and Johnathan were tragically killed as a direct result of the IRA’s 1993 bombing of Warrington (a town in the North West of England) as part of its political agenda to force Britain to withdraw from Northern Ireland . The Foundation receives support from many political figures and our Patrons include the Duchess of Kent and Sir John Major KGCH … (Who we are).

What we do: The Foundation is dedicated to providing conflict resolution programmes and activities that benefit children, young people, adults, schools and communities everywhere.
Our programmes are researched and delivered with the backing of professionals from the field of education, social and youth work. This allows us not only to constantly update our activities but also stay at the forefront of need, demand and change.
At the core of all our work is the belief that only through inclusive dialogue can workable strategies to avoid, manage, or resolve conflicts be established.
The activities of the Foundation comprise working with key groups:
- Children and Young People
- Victims of political violence
- Former military and paramilitary combatants, including former adversaries
As well as addressing the wounds of past conflict, the Foundation is focused on the future by promoting respect for diversity through its programmes. In co-operation with partners from different countries, the Foundation has undertaken international programmes to share experiences in conflict resolution strategies and to identify the skills which promote effective and ethical leadership in areas where violent conflict is a reality.
The Foundation’s programmes are organised into the following areas:
- Children for Peace –for young people aged 5-19 years
- Communities for Peace – helping young people and adults manage and resolve community conflict
- Survivors for Peace – enabling victims and survivors of violent conflict turn a painful experience into a positive opportunity for development, leadership and inspiration to others
- Campaigning and influencing.
