GGP means the Gender and Governance Programme. It was developed as a follow up to the Engendering Political Process Programme implemented in 2002 to support women to participate actively in 2002 general elections.
The GGP was developed by different stakeholders comprising of women leaders and women centred civil society organisations and supported by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and development partners such as the Swedish International Development Agency, the Royal Netherlands Embassy, the Royal Norwegian Embassy and DFID … (full text about the Programme).

The passing of the document into law did not only signify the desire for change in governance but of attitude, the type of government systems Kenyans want and resource distribution.The chair of the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) announced the ratification of the constitution a day after the polling day with an overwhelming 67 percent of voters approving the constitution. This was in accordance with section 43(1) of the Constitution of Kenya Review Act (No. 9 of 2008)
The constitution would however become operational only upon its promulgation by the President or upon the expiry of the fourteen-day period after the publication of the referendum result in the Kenya Gazette as per Article 263 of the constitution.
