The Foundation for Tolerance International FTI is a Kyrgyz NGO working to prevent conflict and promote peace and justice in Central Asia. For 10 years, FTI has managed a diverse portfolio of projects on conflict prevention and resolution, as well as community development and advocacy, primarily at the cross-border communities of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the Ferghana valley. To date, FTI is gaining regional and international presence through its dynamic participation in global and regional network initiatives such as the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict.

To coordinate its communication, information and programmatic initiatives, FTI is seeking an innovator in the area of Conflict Prevention and Resolution. The key tasks will be to collect, produce, oversee and manage a wide array of relevant, timely information and analysis. This role supports FTI’s goal of promoting a culture of non-violence and tolerance, and preventing and resolving conflicts in Central Asia.

The Communications, Information and Program (CIP) Coordinator at FTI is will lead FTI’s public relations strategy and successfully coordinate efforts of FTI staff members in Headquarters and in the four regional offices in the Kyrgyz Republic. Ideally the CIP-Coordinator should have experience in the area of conflict prevention (vertical and horizontal conflicts) and public campaigning. The CIP-Coordinator will be based in Bishkek and should be able to travel out of the area, even out of the country as needed.

    Additional Qualifications:

  1. Depth and breadth of knowledge of conflict prevention and resolution, as well as development
  2. Advocacy/activist experience with organizations and movements locally or regionally
  3. Experience communicating with officials from government and international organizations
  4. Experience in project management (led at least one major project from start to completion)
  5. Experience in communications or journalism, with particular expertise in electronic communications
  6. University degree or related experience with a focus on conflict prevention and resolution, or development, or communications/marketing/journalism
  7. Knowledge of new and innovative design and content approaches in information and communication technologies and experience with innovative strategies and latest, cutting-edge communication tools
  8. Proven writing, editing and proofreading skills; keen attention to detail
  9. Strong organizational skills; effective leadership, work in teams with tight deadlines and pressure
  10. Experience working with freelance writers; experience with both mainstream and alternative media
  11. Written and spoken fluency in Russian and English. A trilingual candidate in Russian, English, and Kyrgyz, Uzbek or Tajik is a definite asset Duties include but not limited to:
  12. Assist staff with external communications with donors, volunteers and international partners
  13. Coordinate timely provision of information about projects and activities of regional offices and headquarters for consolidation, publishing, reporting and public relations purposes
  14. Prepare short bi-monthly briefing reports and « success stories » to highlight FTI activities and projects (regional and headquarters) for the previous two weeks for inter-office coordination, consolidation, and public relations purposes
  15. Prepare and regularly update a web-based calendar that highlights FTI activities and projects for the upcoming months, for easy access of all FTI staff and a more effective coordination of FTI activities
  16. Assist with institutional and organizational development of FTI as a whole
  17. Assist with collecting and preparing information in English for the creation of a consolidated FTI Project Portfolio for communications and fundraising purposes
  18. Assist with collecting and preparing information for the regular maintenance of a consolidated « FTI Donor-Contact Database »
