About 2/2: … Who is the Director of this Project? The Director of this project is Marianne Sarkis, MA, applied medical anthropologist.

Originally from Lebanon, she became aware of the practice of female genital mutilation and was enraged to hear that some of her Arab sisters, and other women, too, were subjected to this harmful surgery. Upon further research, she discovered that this practice was universal, and she has tried, over the past twelve years, to disseminate information on this issue, and speak to various individuals and at various conferences about what can be done to create awareness resulting in positive change.
