About: I am a full-time teacher at Chapel Break First School in Norwich. I did a degree in Theatre at Dartington College of Arts in Devon and my PGCE at the University of the West of England in Bristol.
I came across Philosophy with Children (PWC) 9 years ago during my time at Tuckswood First School in Norwich. I was introduced to PWC by Sue Eagle (Head teacher of Tuckswood) and later trained with Karin Murris .
I have trained with SAPERE (Society for the Advancement of Philosophical Enquiry and Reflection in Education) attending the Levels 1, 2 and 3 courses.
Since 2000 I have been training teachers and students in Philosophy with Children alongside my full-time work as a classteacher.
I am convinced that PWC has a profound effect on children’s ability to reflect, reason and think creatively. My passion for this work has led to personal research in the areas of PWC, drama, imagination and emotional literacy. (Maria Cornish).

I graduated with a B.Ed (Hons) from Homerton College, Cambridge in 1997. I am a full time Advanced Skills Teacher at Chapel Break First School, Norwich. My specialist areas are in Philosophy, role play and literacy in the Foundation Stage.
I have always based my teaching around the use of quality picture books to develop thematic learning in my Reception class and Karin Murris’ work provided further inspiration. I have since attended the levels 1, 2 and 3 SAPERE training under the tutorage of Karin Murris, Roger Sutcliffe and Joanna Haynes.
I am currently writing a book with Steve Bowkett offering practical examples and ideas for using philosophy in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. The book is based on my beliefs that PWC creates endless opportunities to develop higher order thinking skills across the curriculum and is due to be published by Network Educational Press next Year. (Sara Stanley).

I am currently teaching a reception class at Gresham’s Pre-prep School. I have a degree in psychology which I studied for at De Montfort University, and a PGCE which I completed at Leicester University. I have been teaching for four years.
I first started using the PWC approach when I started teaching at Tuckswood School, and have used it weekly with children throughout the First School age range within the classroom and as an after school club. I have attended levels 1, 2 and 3 SAPERE training.
I have found that philosophy has a great effect on children’s questioning and reasoning which can be applied across the curriculum, and have used this as a basis for a research project linked with imagination and emotional literacy. (Sara White).
