- The Centre for Organization Development offers a limited number of executive development programmes for senior and top executives on different aspects of organization development and human resource development. Broadly speaking, there are two kinds of programmes- (i) the inter-organizational programmes, where participants from various organizations come together to explore a theme and (ii) specially designed organization-based programmes for selected groups of executives from the same organization.

Dr. B.L. Maheshwari born in 1935 was a steadfast silver-haired professor who was an influential authority on MBO for decades. He was consulted on the subject by some of the best-known occupants of corporate boardrooms around the world. His fundamental tenet was that” Learning is a Journey not Destination”.He was founder of the centre and its principal executive from January 1980 to March 2000. Later, he was the Chairman of the Board of Governors and Professor Emeritus from 2000 to 2009.
His Academic Pursuits:
He had early education in Rajasthan, where he completed Masters Degrees in both Political Science and Economics, with first rank in the university in both the examinations. He was also awarded gold medals for first ranks in Intermediate Arts examination of the Central Board of Secondary Education and Sahityaratna of Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. Starting his academic career in 1958, he taught at Alwar and Jaipur. In 1963, he went to the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, on Fulbright Fellowship. After obtaining M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, he returned to Jaipur in 1966. Thereafter, he moved to Hyderabad, in August 1967, to join the faculty of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI). While at ASCI, for almost 13 years, he developed new programmes on ‘Management by Objectives’ and ‘Organization Planning and Design’, and also worked as Director of Research, Director of Management Development, and Editor, ASCI Journal of Management.
