Philosophy for Children

an article published in the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy (first published May 2, 2002, substantive revision June 8, 2009).

In the United States, philosophy typically makes its formal entry into the curriculum at the college level. A growing number of high schools offer some introduction to philosophy, often in special literature courses for college bound students. In Europe and many other countries, it is much more common to find philosophy in the high school curriculum. However, philosophy prior to high school seems relatively uncommon around the world. This may suggest that serious philosophical thinking is not for pre-adolescents. Two reasons might be offered for accepting this view. First, philosophical thinking requires a level of cognitive development that, one may believe, is beyond the reach of pre-adolescents. Second, the school curriculum is already crowded; and introducing a subject like philosophy will not only distract students from what they need to learn, it may encourage them to become skeptics rather than learners. However, both of these reasons can be challenged. They will be addressed in turn: Continuer la lecture de « Philosophy for Children »

Information Clearing House

news you won’t find on CNN or FOXnews.

  • This website does not suggest that it contains the « truth ». The truth is a combination of all information and all facts relating to a topic. It is therefore unachievable (in my opinion) for anyone to say « I know the truth. »
  • If you came to this site in search of « the truth » you will be disappointed. That is also true of CNN, FOX , ABC etc. If you came to gather information you may find it a useful resource … //
  • … This means that each citizen has a civic responsibility … //
  • … Truth is indefinable. Information is unlimited. (full text Purpose and Intent of this website).

Money Party (The)

we are nothing to them

… The mainstream media have been virtually silent about the issue of election fraud. The Democratic Party, the principle victim of the fraud (apart, that is, from the American voters), won’t touch the issue, Instead, the issue has been kept alive through the internet and the independent and self-financed efforts of a few determined individuals and citizen-based organizations. And now, startling new evidence has been published, not in the US but in New Zealand, offering further proof that the 2004 Presidential Election was stolen … (full text Election Fraud).
