About: The Canadian Children’s Rights Council Inc. – Conseil canadien des droits des enfants inc. was formed in the early 1990’s to monitor compliance of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child in Canada.
- We have testified before various provincial and federal committees and ministerial consultations concerning the rights and responsibilities of Canadian children.
- We are a non-profit, non governmental, educational and advocacy organization dedicated to supporting the rights and responsibilities of Canadian children and providing critical analysis of governments’ policies at all levels of government in Canada.
- We research and present issues and solutions regarding violations of Canadian children’s rights to every level of government in Canada as well as non-government institutions and organizations.
- Our role is also to provide information, education and critical analysis of Canadian laws and the implementation of child rights across Canada as expressed in the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- We are a member of the Child Rights Information Network CRIN which has about 1,600 members worldwide.
The Child Rights Information Network (CRIN) is an independent, non-religious, non-political forum committed to facilitating information exchange between child rights professionals in different parts of the world. CRIN aims to collect and disseminate information on child rights in order to promote the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), the unique treaty encapsulating the human rights of children.
