Soon after the center’s official inauguration the number of children attending and participating in the activities increased. The first organized camp soon followed with 500 children from different institutions of Pune and Mumbai in attendance. That was in 1984 and since then the number of children has increased greatly.

The people of Bal Kalyan believe in providing these facilities to help in the growth and development of disabled children. Active participation in these activities helps in confidence building, independence, and personality development.
