Homepage: Ba Futuru engages children and youth in artistic, conflict resolution and human rights activities in East Timor. By facilitating healing among children afected by conflict, raising knowledge of human rights and their relevance in day-to-day living, and encouraging creative expression and co-operation, the Transformative Arts and Human Rights Education (TAHRE) program helps break the cycle of violence.
The TAHRE Program creates a culture of peace by contributing to the potential for a strong, democratic, and human rights-based society. Ba Futuru also offers training for people working with children, and provides capacity development for government officials.
Recently, Ba Futuru developed a Postivie Discipline manual to educate teachers and childcare workers about the negative consequences of violence against children. It also highlights alternatives for effective non-violent discipline. See Ba Futuru’s publications for more information!
