• It is a Non-Governmental Organization established in April 2004 and registered since June 27, 2005 as a Tanzanian NGO under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act of 2002, with the registration number 00NGO/0866. It is recognized by the Tanzania Revenue Authority as Taxpayer with TIN 105. 012. 896.
• ACEDE operates in mainland Tanzania with its headquarters located in Tanga and was started by nine individuals involved in community development and living in Tanga and Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania) as well as Ohio (USA) … (about 1/2).

Principles Guiding AHRC Programmes:

• Victims-directed approach must be combined with structural reforms needed to prevent human rights abuse and to promote rights;
• Protest work will be combined with a community-based approach. In this, building of a support base in church and religious groups will be given priority;
• UN-directed approach must be combined with regional and country based human rights promotional activities;
• Human rights promotion must be combined with promotion of democracy and rule of law;
