no weapons, no wars – Wars cost billions, peace is free. Join today,  volunteers wanted

We are women from Melbourne, Australia. We formed the group Women for Peace: No Weapons No Wars in September 2002 to register our distress and protest about the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, the war on Afghanistan, and the present threat of war on Iraq … (who we are 1/2).

Who we are 2/2: … We condemn all wars, all acts of terrorism, and the manufacture of weapons.

Human history has seen enough wars as in: Afghanistan, Australia, Iraq, Iran Vietnam, Cambodia, Palestine, Israel, Bosnia, Kosovo, East Timor, Europe and Asia in World Wars 1 & 2, Africa, South America, etc. We need no further suffering from wars to know that only peace has the solutions for all humanity.

Women for Peace: No Weapons No Wars will join the voices and struggles of other women and men worldwide for peace and justice in the 21st century. A just and peaceful world is possible and we ordinary people can pledge to make it happen.

Women for Peace: No Weapons No Wars is affiliated with the Victorian Peace Network. This site is no longer active, but contains extensive holdings of the Victorian Peace Network 2002-2006 with emphasis on the campaign against the war on Iraq 2003. Archive includes: … (full long text with many Archive-links).

What we do:

  • 1. Work closely with the Victorian Peace Network and participate in their peace actions

  • 3. Organise women’s peace actions and information table to publicise the group every Friday from 5 to 7pm at the Burke Street Mall, Melbourne. Brochures, badges, information available
  • 4. Hold monthly meetings on the first Monday of the month from 6.30 to 8pm in Brunswick East, Melbourne.
