About: Representing international schools on the continent of Africa, AISA has a membership of schools which range in size from 20 to 3600 students. Strongly influenced by their location and cosmopolitan student enrollment, some schools have an American based curriculum, others are British, and all have an international focus. AISA’s goal is to serve the varying needs of nearly 29,000 students and over 1,500 teachers and administrators.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) is to facilitate improvement in learning and teaching through communication and cooperation among member schools, and to promote professional growth of teachers, administrators, and board members. Member schools are nursery, elementary and/or secondary schools which are independent organizations, governed by local school boards, which serve an international student body or employ an international teaching staff or follow an international curriculum, and subscribe to the philosophy and objectives of the Association.
The Association shall pursue its mission within the framework of the following philosophical statements:
- AISA seeks to nurture a sense of hospitality and friendliness, collegiality and community among its members.
- AISA supports the concept of service to the human family.
- AISA promotes programs which nurture an understanding and appreciation of African cultures.
- AISA embraces a world view which celebrates human unity in diversity.
