- The Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress is a non-governmental, not-for-profit organization based in San Jose, Costa Rica. It was created in 1988 with the financial support of the Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to its founder and then-President of Costa Rica, Dr. Oscar Arias Sánchez, in recognition of his efforts to achieve a « firm and lasting peace » in Central America.

In recognition of its work, the United Nations Economic and Social Council granted the Arias Foundation Special Consultative Status as a civil society organization in 2003, and with this same status the Foundation continues to participate in the Organization of American States (OAS).
