About 2/2: … Amar Jyoti is a voluntary organization rendering rehabilitative services to persons with disabilities through inclusive and integrated education, medical care, vocational training, child guidance and self-employment since 1981.

With its pioneering concept of integration and inclusion, Amar Jyoti is running a school where 602 children with and without disability are studying together in equal number. The school curriculum includes vocational training sports and other extra curricular activities, which helps immensely in inculcating confidence and developing all-round personalities. A free mid-day meal and medical care facilities are also provided during school hours. Special sections of the school cater to the slow learners through special educators. These children get opportunities of social, recreational and vocational integration along with academic remediation as per need under the Partial Integration Programme of Academics.

The institution has organized five National Integrated Sports Meets. The signal honour of hosting the 6th International Abilympics in India has also been brought by Amar Jyoti.

To reach the unreached, Amar Jyoti runs a community-based rehabilitation project in 30 urban slums of Delhi where all necessary services for rehabilitation of persons with disability are provided as per need.

For capacity building, Amar Jyoti is running several highly acclaimed courses:

  • A 4-1/2 year course of B.Sc. (Hons.) in physiotherapy in collaboration with the University of Delhi,
  • A Diploma Course in Special Education (DSE-MR) affiliated to NIMH and recognized by the RCI,
  • Short-term courses for in-service teachers,
  • Distant mode course in special education affiliated to Bhoj Open University of Madhya Pradesh.
  • The institution is also a recognized study center for National Open School and Indira Gandhi National Open University courses.
  • The Child Guidance Centre at Amar Jyoti is run by experienced professionals offering services for home training and necessary assistance for intellectually challenged children.
