THE OTHER 3Rs meets the requirements of the UK National Curriculum in a number of subject areas:
HEALTH EDUCATION
- « The emphasis in most health education curricula is on encouraging individual responsibility, awareness and informed decision-making… Opportunities should be provided for pupils to assess evidence, make decisions, negotiate, listen, make and deal with relationships, solve problems and work independently and with confidence… Teaching methods… include games, simulations, case studies, role plays, problem solving excercises, questionnaires, surveys, open-ended questions and sentences and group work of various kinds. »
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
- « (Key Stage 3) is an appropriate stage for pupils to develop their critical appraisal of some experience of religion and life-experiences they have been studying. This will apply not only to rules and codes of behaviour, but also to basic beliefs and attitudes… They will now be able to think more deeply about the experience of being human ».
CITIZENSHIP
- « Areas of study might include: sources of authority and influence; the role of the individual within different types of community; the role of the family, education, religion, culture and social structures in maintaining social stability ».
