… History and Overview: The Five College Women’s Studies Research Center was founded in 1991 as a site for scholarly activity on issues relating to women and gender. Located in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, it is supported by a consortium of Amherst, Hampshire, Mount Holyoke and Smith Colleges and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The five institutions have a thirty-five year history of cooperation and innovation in higher education and boast one of the largest concentrations of women’s studies scholars anywhere in the world … (Homepage 1/2).

Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM

The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor GEM is a not-for-profit academic research consortium that has as its goal making high quality international research data on entrepreneurial activity readily available to as wide an audience as possible.  GEM is the largest single study of entrepreneurial activity in the world.Initiated in 1999 with 10 countries, GEM 2008 conducted research in 43 countries.
