Hope's Heart Orphan Foundation

Serving Orphans with a Passion to Enrich Their Lives

Hope’s Heart Orphan Foundation is dedicated to bringing hope to orphans living in these conditions.  Grants, awards and funding will enable Hope’s Heart to say ‘yes’ to the children who depend on our help.  Through collaborating efforts of Hope’s Heart with existing aid programs, we are consistently being made aware of specific children and specific needs.  It is our desire to do all we can to ‘Serve Orphans with a Passion to Enrich Their Lives.’  Every dollar contributed to Hope’s Heart and every grant released translates into a gift of love, life, and hope. The Orphan Foundation of America OFA

Linked with For Foster Youth, OFA Internships offer much more than a Foot in the Door.

  • If today’s job market is competitive for all who seek employment, imagine how much more challenging it is for young people without a base of family support, friendly connections or work experience to rely on. For these youth, good paying skilled jobs are out of reach – and internships are very difficult to secure.
  • OFA believes that workforce preparation is essential for the 26,000 youth aging out of foster care each year. Our InternAmerica program is geared toward much more than just helping these young people get a foot in the door. OFA internships generate great networking opportunities for our students, add prestige and substance to their résumés, and accelerate their path toward becoming valuable employees and assets in the workforce … (full text Spotlight on Internships /Homepage).

The Orphan Foundation

  • Imagine if the children in your life didn’t have someone to tuck them in at night, to read them stories, or to play with them.  How sad and lonely would they be? More importantly, imagine if they didn’t have someone to teach them right from wrong, help them with their homework, teach them how to handle money, or help them find their first job.  How difficult a place would the world become?
  • 143 million children live in that world today, according to UNICEF. Another 20 million children are in the classification of « displaced children. » Combined that population creates the 7th largest nation in the world – larger than Russia.   Now imagine the impact on our world by simply studying the statistics: The Orphan Crisis.

Orphans International Worldwide

raising global citizens

Introduction. Orphans International Worldwide (OIWW) was founded by Jim Luce in 1999 as a response to the global crisis facing orphaned children.  OIWW has established a network of locally incorporated homes to house and educate children orphaned and abandoned after the Tsunami in Sri Lanka and Indonesia, and the 2004 hurricane in Haiti. OIWW provides aid to the world’s most disadvantaged children with the donated services of 100 volunteers, on an annual budget of less than a half-million dollars.  OIWW is associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information and is headquartered in New York City. OI America is a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation … (about 1/2).

Genocide Prevention Project

Organizer of Genocide Prevention Month, April 2009

The best way to stop genocide is to prevent it from happening. Caring citizens from around the world – including survivors of past genocides – are calling for an effective genocide prevention system. Organize or take part in Genocide Prevention Month in April 2009. Help us urge the international community create an effective system for preventing genocide and mass atrocity crimes. About: The Genocide Prevention Project, founded in the fall of 2008, seeks to build the public will to call on the international community to take meaningful actions when “early warning” indicators signal possible onset of mass-scale atrocity crimes, and to mobilize resources to avert or halt such ongoing crises and protect civilians from mass atrocity crimes.

The Genocide Prevention Project focuses on public education and advocacy. Our initiatives include the Mass Atrocity Crimes Watch List and Genocide Prevention Month in April 2009. The month is a 30-day commemoration of past genocide and mass atrocity crimes. We are working with genocide survivors and international survivor organizations to generate a civil society call for the implementation of prevention strategies. The Genocide Prevention Project is an initiative of Public Interest Projects, a 501(c)3 public charity in New York.

Staff:

  • Jill Savitt, Executive Director
  • Allison Johnson, International Campaign Manager
  • Kate McNeece, Program Associate
  • Ellen Freudenheim, Research Consultant
  • Ben Prochazka, National Organizer

The Genocide Prevention Project is the next venture of the team behind Dream for Darfur, the campaign that used the Olympics to urge the Chinese government to use its influence with the Sudanese regime to bring security to Darfur. Dream for Darfur significantly raised global awareness about China’s complicity in the genocide. An impact statement for Dream for Darfur is available at Dream for Darfur.org.

Ambedkar Centre for Justice and Peace ACJP

  • Ambedkar Center for Justice and Peace is a global volunteer charity organization with its Global Headquarters at Tunkhannock, PA, USA. Our aim is to follow the path shown by our savior, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. According to Government of India’s statistics 2002 (annual report of Commission for Scheduled Caste and Tribes (Untouchables and Tribals)), caste prejudice is responsible for at least 60,000 plus crimes against Dalits each year.
