Like a spring the beginning of all things are small. It happened to be the same with Life Help Centre when we incepted the tiny seeds of service to the handicapped in the year 1977. This organization started its service in a rented building at Adyar, Chennai which shifted soon to its own campus on 11.52 acres situated at Palavakkam which is towards the south of Chennai on the East Coast Road, in June 1983 … (about 1/2).

Since 2001, architects, engineers and town planners have used their professional expertise to bring appropriate and lasting help to all the victims of natural, technological and human catastrophes, without distinction of their nationality, sex or religion. The objectives of Emergency Architects:

• To bring support which is adapted to each stage of a crisis; from damage evaluation (making buildings safe) to  the first emergency assistance;
• To guarantee the respect of human dignity and to conserve the architectural, cultural and historic heritage of the world ;
• To use the financial support we are given in a professional manner, so as to carry out quality re-building and training programmes.

Brazil’s Landless Workers Movement, or in Portuguese Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST), is the largest social movement in Latin America with an estimated 1.5 million landless members organized in 23 out 27 states. The MST carries out long-overdue land reform in a country mired by unjust land distribution. In Brazil, 1.6% of the landowners control roughly half (46.8%) of the land on which crops could be grown.
