The URPP Foundations of Human Social Behavior, Altruism and Egoism

The Univesity of Zurich founded the Research Priority Program on the Foundation of Human Social Behavior in 2005.

This interdisciplinary program focuses on the investigation of human social behavior from the perspectives of neuroscience, economics, psychology, philosophy, and evolutionary anthropology (on wikipedia, on WILEY InterScience, on Max Planck Institute).

The main goal is to understand the factors which determine prosocial and antisocial behavior in humans. The program concentrates not only on the social and biological bases of altruistic and egoistic behavior, but also on the economic and ethical consequences of people displaying this behavior … (Homepage).

The Buddhist Community at Stanford

The Buddhist Study Circle (click on the link inside of Activities): The study circle is structured so that there is practice and study. Beginning with a short and peaceful chant in the beginning, the group then learns from an American Tibetan nun about karma and how it functions in our lives. There are exercises in trying to make the principle come alive in our day-to-day lives. Everyone is welcome to participate.

History: Lesbian Information Service is an independent organisation. Set up in July 1987 by Jan Bridget (Foster) and Sandra Lucille, it has provided one-to-one support to lesbians of all ages and backgrounds throughout Britain via face-to-face work, support groups, helplines, publications, newsletter, pen-pal schemes, telephone and correspondence counselling, residentials, campaigns, training, projects … (full long list of links).
