About JPS: The Jean Piaget Society, established in 1970, has an international, interdisciplinary membership of scholars, teachers and researchers interested in exploring the nature of the developmental construction of human knowledge. The Society was named in honor of the Swiss developmentalist, Jean Piaget, who made major theoretical and empirical contributions to our understanding of the origins and evolution of knowledge.

The Society’s aim is to provide an open forum, through symposia, books, our journal, and other publications, for the presentation and discussion of scholarly work on issues related to human knowledge and its development. The Society further encourages the application of advances in the understanding of development to education and other domains.

In 1989, the name of the Society was changed to Jean Piaget Society: Society for the Study of Knowledge and Development.

International Institute for the Study of Nomadic Civilizations IISNC

Linked with New Challenges for Nomadic Civilization and Pastoral Nomadism in Mongolia.
… Over thousands of years nomads have inhabited vast expanses of the world. Nomadic societies have devised forms of culture which have been particularly suited to their environment and conditions of mobility as well as to the demands and possibilities of their way of life. They have made an undeniable contribution to the development of different techniques and ways of using land and sea which have created original and sometimes unique civilizations. Today, in numerous regions of the world, nomadic populations are faced with crucial challenges to their current existence, future viability, and especially to their cultural identity. About: Background: At is forty-eighth session, hosted by the Government of China in Beijing in 1992, the UN ESCAP declared the period 1993 to 2002 as the Asian and Pacific Decade of Disabled Persons. From 1993 to 2002, annual Campaigns were held in various countries to raise public awareness of, and to mobilize support for, the Decade goals of full participation and equality of people with disabilities. The annual campaigns also provided a platform for the disabled persons as well as non disabled participants from the Asian & Pacific region to network and share experiences, problems and ideas. Much gains have been achieved in creating awareness about the situation of people with disabilities in the Asian and Pacific region. The Osaka Forum, held in Oct 2002, signaled the last of the ten Campaigns. The Regional NGO Network(RNN) which was established for the purpose of organizing the annual conferences, was dissolved after the Osaka Forum.
