Das IGF entwickelt und vermittelt Gedanken, Erfahrungen und Konzepte für den Aufbau einer globalen Friedenskraft. Das IGF spannt ein internationales Netz der Kooperation zu Friedensinitiativen und engagierten Einzelpersonen, die am Aufbau einer globalen Friedenskraft beteiligt sind oder sein möchten, zu Vertretern indigener Völker, zu Wissenschaftlern, zu Friedensarbeitern und Friedensarbeiterinnen in vielen verschiedenen Ländern. Eine spezielle Kooperation entwickelte sich u.a. mit FriedensarbeiterInnen aus Israel/Palästina, Kolumbien, Indien, Kroatien und Brasilien. Der Sitz des IGF ist in Tamera in Portugal.

The Natural Step is a nonprofit organization founded in Sweden in 1989 by Swedish scientist, Karl-Henrik Robèrt. The Natural Step has pioneered a « Backcasting from Principles » approach to effectively advance society towards sustainability, and developed through a consensus process a systematic principle definition of sustainability. Following publication of the Brundtland Report in 1987, Robèrt developed The Natural Step Framework, setting out the system conditions for the sustainability of planet Earth. Robèrt’s four system conditions are derived from the laws of thermodynamics.

As an international non-profit organisation it has been working to accelerate global sustainability, using the internationally endorsed and tested Natural Step framework, which is based on sound science, systems thinking and practical business decision-making, to help companies, non-profit organisations, individuals and communities to lead the transition to an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable future. Nijera Kori is a movement for awareness, from the individual to the collective, relating to life in deep perspective, encompassing all its social, economic and political aspects. It is an awareness of an individuals existence that remains dormant untill awakened by external pressures and forces. The pressures are those of poverty, exploitation and deprivation, of marginalisation and exclusion, of class and gender discrimination and the forces are those of protest, for assertion of rights and privileges, for equality and justice, to which they have a natural claim by law and social norm.
