international research institutes\/agencies;<\/li>\n<li>Widen and strengthen the scope of agrarian database;<\/li>\n<li>Acquiring the required skills individually and collectively; and<\/li>\n<li>Having a committed, competent and contented team of employees.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Strategies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthen the Research and Training Committee (RTC);<\/li>\n<li>Agree on thematic areas;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure uniformity of different types of publications &#8211; layout, cover page, pagination, fonts and styles;<\/li>\n<li>Improve literature review in preparation of research proposal;<\/li>\n<li>Arrange external review after peer review of all research reports before publication;<\/li>\n<li>Assign the responsibility for each issue of the institute journal to the respective Division;<\/li>\n<li>Obtain donor assistance to secure the services of a professional editor;<\/li>\n<li>Increase research outputs in local languages;<\/li>\n<li>Recruit researchers at senior level;<\/li>\n<li>Explore possibility of getting research expatriates through the UNDP;<\/li>\n<li>Establish linkages with universities;<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate research findings at the end of the year colloquium;<\/li>\n<li>Introduce measurable performance based evaluation system;<\/li>\n<li>Organize faculty retreat;<\/li>\n<li>Improve the quality of the printing of the publications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Activities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collecting, analyzing and disseminating of market information;<\/li>\n<li>Investigation on marketing issues;<\/li>\n<li>Analysis on consumer behaviour;<\/li>\n<li>Evaluation of government development programmes;<\/li>\n<li>Impact assessment of agrarian and rural development projects and programmes;<\/li>\n<li>Conducting surveys to establish bechmark conditions;<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of agricultural policies;<\/li>\n<li>Conducting feasibility studies on proposed development projects;<\/li>\n<li>Researching on problems related to the input supply and support services;<\/li>\n<li>Conducting research on water resources management and irrigated agriculture;<\/li>\n<li>Studying environmental and natural resources management issues;<\/li>\n<li>Undertaking research on irigation institutions and institutional policies;<\/li>\n<li>Organizing training programmes\/workshops\/seminars based on national priorities;<\/li>\n<li>Meeting outside demands by undertaking training programmes on specific subjects;<\/li>\n<li>Providing services of experts to the training programmes organized by outside agencies;<\/li>\n<li>Improvement of library facilities and audio visual resources;<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening use of information technology for dissemination of research findings;<\/li>\n<li>Development of the skills and competencies of the staff;
