It was founded in 1970 by the Arbetarr\u00f6relsens Arkiv (Stockholm), the Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund (D\u00fcsseldorf), the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (Bonn), the Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis (Amsterdam), the Labour Party (London), the Schweizerisches Sozialarchiv (Z\u00fcrich) and the Trades Union Congress (London), among others.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>IALHI aims at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fostering closer co-operation between its members.<\/li>\n<li>Interlending wherever possible.<\/li>\n<li>Encouraging the interchange of publications and duplicates.<\/li>\n<li>Initiating and sponsoring publications such as bibliographies, holding lists and surveys falling within its field of interest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Membership:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Archives and libraries of trade union federations and major trade unions from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom; and of related international bodies like the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions and the European Trade Union Institute.<\/li>\n<li>Archives and libraries of socialist and communist parties from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Israel, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.<\/li>\n<li>Major document and research centres like the AMSAB (Ghent), the Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli (Milan), the Internationaal Instituut voor Sociale Geschiedenis (Amsterdam), the Schweizerisches Sozialarchiv (Z\u00fcrich) etc.<\/li>\n<li>Museums of labour and working class life like the National Museum of Labour History (Manchester), the Arbejdermuseet (Copenhagen), the Ty\u00f6v\u00e4enmuseo Werstas (Tampere) etc.<\/li>\n<li>Major university institutions like the Bibliothek der Freien Universit\u00e4t (Berlin), the Biblioth\u00e8que de Documentation internationale contemporaine (Nanterre), the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace (Stanford, CA), the Labadie Collection (Ann Arbor, MI), the Modern Records Centre (Coventry), the Ohara Institute for Social Research (Tokyo) etc.<\/li>\n<li>Private document centres, museums, labour history societies etc from Australia to Brazil.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Linked with Worlds of Labor &#8211; Call for articles.
