Our support is directed toward creating a local research community whose work will build healthier, more equitable, and more prosperous societies.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.idrc.ca\/en\/ev-114723-201-1-DO_TOPIC.html\">IDRC at a glance<\/a>: A Crown corporation, IDRC is guided by a 21-member, International Board of Governors and reports to the Canadian Parliament through the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 2006\/07, IDRC received CA$135.3 million in funding from the Parliament of Canada.<\/p>\n<p>IDRC\u2019s mission: Empowerment through knowledge:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We fund applied research by researchers in developing countries on the problems they identify as crucial to their communities.
