I AM WOMAN \u2013 EDUCATE ME
\nI am the woman from a village in Pakistan
\nWhere they threw acid in my face because their honour was at stake
\nBattered, bullied and bruised \u2013 I suffered great pain
\nBut the damage they have done has only fired my resolve
\nTo never let them make MY honour, THEIR gain
\nI forced the courts to hear my case and took others like me
\nCaught in the vicious circle of male violence and frenzy
\nin trying to dehumanize us
\nMy disfigured face has empowered me; the cries of my sisters
\nhave given me strength in my own strength
\nI won\u2019t be cowed down by cowardly acts
\nI have found my path and will never return to the fetters of slavery
\nI ask for no accolades for my bravery

For her untiring commitment towards building bridges of understanding, she has received many awards. She is a recipient of the City of Toronto\u2019s Constance Hamilton award and is the first South Asian woman to narrate a CBC documentary on \u201cPassionate Eye\u201d. In a presentation at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ms. Raza received a standing ovation for her speech called \u00ab\u00a0Celebrating our Differences\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Ms. Raza has successfully presented at Colleges & Universities, places of worship, Agencies, Boards & Commissions, the Justice Department, Corporations, School Boards and government institutions across Canada.
