These branches are co-ordinated from the NFU&rsquo;s purpose-built headquarters on the Royal Showground at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stoneleighpark.com\/\">Stoneleigh Park<\/a> in Warwickshire.<\/p>\n<p>NFU Mission Statement:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The NFU champions British farming and provides professional representation and services to its Farmer and Grower members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nfuonline.com\/About-the-NFU\/History\/Supporting-farmers-for-over-100-years\/\">History<\/a> &#8211; Supporting farmers for over 100 years:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On December 10, 1908, a meeting was held in an ante-room at the Smithfield Show to discuss whether a national organisation should be formed to represent the interests of farmers. The outcome was the National Farmers\u2019 Union.<\/li>\n<li>Its first President, Colin Campbell, worked tirelessly to get new branches off the ground, encourage membership and establish the NFU\u2019s credibility with Government, at a time when farming was going through the longest and deepest depression in its history, as imports of cheap grain and frozen meat flooded in from abroad.<\/li>\n<li>From those modest and difficult beginnings, the NFU has grown to become one of the most effective and respected trade associations in Britain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>the voice of British farming The NFU was founded in 1908 and is financed by members&rsquo; subscriptions.
