About: The Southern African Regional Poverty Network (SARPN) is a non-profit organisation that promotes debate and knowledge sharing on poverty reduction processes and experiences in Southern Africa. SARPN aims to contribute towards effective reduction of poverty in the countries of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) through creating platforms for effective pro-poor policy, strategy and practice.

SARPN achieves this goal through widening participation, bringing people together across the region to exchange ideas, and disseminating information to deepen understandings of poverty issues and improve policy and practice.

African Women Pioneeres / Femmes Africa Solidarité

Objectives Regional Level: Femmes Africa Solidarité (FAS) is at the forefront of the advocacy campaign to get women involved in the decision-making structures of the African Union AU. FAS advocates for the adoption of the « parity principle », or gender equality. Its activities have resulted in gender parity in the AU Commission and the adoption of the Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights on the Rights of Women in Africa in 2003 and of the Solemn Declaration on Gender Equality in Africa in 2004.

Association for Protection of the Rights of the Refugees from Abkhazia APRRA

The Association for Protection of the Rights of the Refugees from Abkhazia APRRA is a Non-Governmental, Non-profit organization. The Association was founded in October, 1998 in Tbilisi (Capital of the Republic of Georgia) as the International Association « Caucasus: Ethnic Relations, Human Rights, Geopolitics » (IACERHRG). On 13th November, 2004 at the 6th Annual Conference of IACERHRG a decision was made rename the Association and, also, to change its priorities.

The main aims and goals of APRRA are:

  • 1. Permanent monitoring of the Rights of the Refugees from Abkhazeti (Abkhazia);
  • 2. Organisation of the humanitarian actions for the Refugees from Abkhazia;
  • 3. Participation in the events on the problems of Abkhazia, rezolution of the Abkhazian-Georgian conflict and restoration of territorial integrity of the Republic of Georgia;
  • 4. Co-operation with the NGOs, Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and the legal Government of Abkhazia in exile;
  • etc.
